Mega Band : Yashin

Yashin White 1

Hiya Yashin..For all the Teen Spirit readers out there tell us abit about yourselves. -

We are Yashin. A heavy rock/alternative band from Glasgow, Scotland. We have been a band for around 3 or 4 years and have just released our second album ‘We Created a Monster’.

What genre of music would you put yourselves under?

Rock/Metal/Alternative

And what has been your career highlight to date?

Touring the UK and Europe with Limp Bizkit, Kev even got to get up to sing with them, they’re his favortite band of all time so it was mind blowing for him, lovely people still making crowds go insane, great lessons learned all round.

Many say touring is all about the 3 Bs.. beer, babes and bad places to sleep.. What has touring really been like?

As the band has progressed and grown touring has became more comforitable. However regardless of sleeping in nice hotels or on someones cooker, yes cooker..its always been fun. We are still serving our apprenticship but would like to think the tougher times are behind us.

Your favourite venue/place/festival you’ve played?

Hamburg Stadepark.

If you could collab with one person/band who would it be and why?

It would be Will.i.am….we need some of that vocoder shit in our tunes…thats what’s missing! Oh and he could hook us up with Cheryl Cole, just maybe!

When you boys are jamming does the songs come naturally or does it take a while to really get the sound your looking for?

Alot of bands ‘jam’, we’re not a blues band! When we hit the studio to work on a new song we have our parts worked out already. We tend to do the core of the writing at the bedroom stage. Those in bands will know what we mean.

If you could plan your destiny where would you lead yourselves to?

Getting the band to a level where Yashin is a household name. Everyone knows who Guns n Roses and Metallica are, thats the dream.

Any embarrassing things we should know?

Andy as currently taken up Yoga. He is about as flexible as and iron bar!

Why you love Teen Spirit?

because we heard you guys think our new album is better than Elvis.

What do you want to say to all your fans and supporters out there?

Basically without being corny, thanks for all the support thus far. Please keep up the support and keep this band going. And make sure you grab a copy of the new album either from theyashin.com or itunes. If you dare to download it illegally we shall be sending Andy Mcshane(bass) and Chris Jericho round to sort you out….remember Andy does Yoga!!!

Mega Band : Your Demise

Your Demise 2

Hiya Your Demise..For all the Teen Spirit readers out there tell us abit about yourselves.

Hello, This is Stu from YD – I play guitar and the Old Man role in the band. The other guys are Ed on vocals, Tailby on Drums, Jimmy on bass and Oz on guitar.

What genre of music would you put yourselves under?

Honestly I could not tell you, it seems like there is a genre for every kind of style, and so much debate around those. But essentially we are a Hardcore Punk Rock band.

And what has been your career highlight to date?

There has honestly been so many that its hard to pin point any exact highlight. We’ve toured all over the world, shared the stage with so many great bands and met so many awesome people on the way. I guess I would maybe say being friends with bands, that from my younger days were hero’s, is the main highlight. It’s still very strange to be in place where you can call them fiends.

Your favourite venue/place/festival you’ve played?

The best venue in the world, hands down is The Underworld in Camden, its the perfect venue. It has no barrier, so it’s really intense and great for stage diving and getting involved. It’s like the spiritual home of hardcore in London these days to. Second I would say is Chain Reaction in Anaheim. We love festivals to, European ones always smash it and Download 2011 was a highlight for us.

If you could collab with one person/band who would it be and why?

Not speaking for the others, but it would prob be someone like Hetfield from Metallica, or Paige Hamilton from Helmet, both massive inspirations for myself. A lot of the other guys would probably say some obscure hip hop artists or even One Direction, that would be an interesting mix ha ha!

When you boys are jamming does the songs come naturally or does it take a while to really get the sound your looking for?

I would say 50% comes from jamming, but there is always a basic Riff which leads to the finished song. We all write together, everyone’s input, it keeps it level and insures everyone is in to it.

If you could plan your destiny where would you lead yourselves to?

Playing on the Moon, touring with The Wyld Stalyns?

Any embarrassing things we should know?

Ha, we don’t really get embarrassed, nothing really bothers us to that point, whatever goes really. If someone around us is, we all just kinda look at each other ha ha.

What do you want to say to all your fans and supporters out there?

Thanks for giving us the chance to live out our dreams, it means the world to us! see you on tour!

Mega Band : Bleed From Within

BLEEDFROMWITHIN_160712_174

For all the Teen Spirit readers out there tell us abit about yourselves.

We are a metal band from Scotland who have been together since 2005. We are just about to release our new album entitled ‘Uprising’ via Century Media Records, and there is nothing we love more than being on tour, playing our songs live, and partying hard.

What genre of music would you put yourselves under?

We are a metal band! Over the years we have been given many different labels, and been called all sorts. Mainly because Kennedy, our singer, has a fringe! People in the music scene today are very eager to give something a label on first listen. The same thing happens when people look at a picture of your band, which is stupid. Without even listening to the music, they have summed you up and put you alongside other bands that you may look similar to. ‘Uprising’ is a metal album; we are a metal band.

And what has been your career highlight to date?

It has to be signing a record deal with Century Media Records, and joining the family over at Raw Power Management. Century Media is home to a number of bands that have inspired us, and Raw Power have so many amazing bands on their roster that we are either friends with, or have massive respect for. There was a point when we didn’t know what was going to happen with this album. Then, after meeting members of both companies, we very quickly realised that our luck was going to change. We are honoured, and very lucky to be where we are right now.

Your favourite venue/place/festival you’ve played?

We have played hundreds of amazing festivals and shows, but the our favourite has to be Graspop Festival (Belgium) in 2011. We played there as a part of our tour with Suicide Silence and After The Burial. We were playing after Kylesa, and before Times Of Grace, in a tent that held 13,000 people. It was absolutely packed when we started playing, and seemed to get even busier throughout our set! There are a whole bunch of videos on youtube of the wall of death that happened during the show. I just wish someone had captured the look on our faces when we walked off stage after the encore. We were on another planet! My mum and dad were on a holiday nearby and managed to make it over in time for our set aswell, so that made the full thing a little more special.

If you could collab with one person/band who would it be and why?

I would have loved to jam with Dimebag Darrell (RIP). Just get ourselves set up in a studio somewhere, crack open some fine Scottish whisky, and jam for a few days. But that’s never going to happen. Collaborating would have to bring something different to the table, so maybe meet up with Biffy Clyro and try create some crazy metal/alternative/Scottish hybrid.
We have some guest vocals on our new album by Liam Cormier of Cancer Bats. It’s the first time we have ever been able to get someone from a well known band involved in an album, so we haven’t really given it much thought! The next album might have one or two surprising guests on it. It’s quite surreal hearing someone else being a part of something your band has created!

When you boys are jamming does the songs come naturally or does it take a while to really get the sound your looking for?

It really depends. The riffs are bought into the studio by our guitar players, Goonzi and Martyn, then I’ll get a feel for them on drums. We all try out a bunch of ideas at that point, then Goonzi will take them away and record them in his home studio. We all listen back to the structure and make changes from there. Jamming is crucial to getting the groove for the track, and making sure everyone is comfortable with the tempo. It takes slightly longer for the final product to come together as you need a few days listening to each different version in order make notes and think about changes. Some songs come together easier than others. There are times when you can practically finish a full song in a night, but sometimes it can take months.

If you could plan your destiny where would you lead yourselves to?

If we could go anywhere, then we would love to tour America, Australia and Asia. It has been our dream to play those places ever since the band started getting serious. So fingers crossed for Warped Tour and Soundwave in the future.
But, as I touched on earlier, we are very humbled to be where we are right now, and this is a very exciting time for everyone involved. We are just starting to get reviews back from different press, and hear what outsiders think of the album. It has been incredibly positive so far.

Any embarrassing things we should know?

What happens on tour, stays on tour haha! So there will always be things that stay secret. I think as a band we don’t have a lot of majorly embarrassing moments.
We have started shows when the lighting guy has been in the toilet, so the first 2 songs were in total darkness. Thats happened more than once. I also threw my drumstick into a crowd in London a few years ago, it caught someone in the face because they weren’t paying attention, so I ran off stage. I thought everyone loved the set. Obviously not!

What plans have you got for 2013?

Our album is released on March 25th in Europe, and April 2nd in North America. We have a tour with Testament and Shadows Fall during the last 2 weeks of March, then we have a headline tour in the UK during the last two weeks of April. We have a few festival appearances booked for summer, including this years Download Festival in England, which we are VERY excited for. So many of our friends are going to be there! We have no intention of sitting still this year, or next for that matter.
We just want to tour whenever, and wherever we can. It’s time for us to let people know that we are back, take our new songs to the stage, and prove that we mean business.

What do you want to say to all your fans out there?

Thanks to EVERYONE who has stood by us and waited patiently for this album to be released. It’s a cliched thing to say, but we mean it from the bottom of our hearts. We have been through a lot, but feel that we are coming back to a bigger fan base, which is a crazy feeling. So thanks to all of you for that!
Just keep checking our Facebook for updates on tours/shows, and hopefully so will see some of you on our headline tour this April. Support comes from Heart Of A Coward and Silent Screams, two great UK bands. Tickets are available at http://www.kililive.com and all usual outlets.

Why you love Teen Spirit?

It’s metal as fuck.

Never_shout_never

Mega Band : We Are the In Crowd

Never_shout_never

We welcome the US sensations We are the in Crowd to Teen Spirit! soo..

What genre of music would you put yourselves under?

I never really know how to categorize our music because you never want people to judge your music purely on a single title. But, I think we are in the Pop-rock area.

And what has been your career highlight to date?

I think touring multiple countries. I remember going to Canada for the first time and thinking “Wow we are in another country” but then we made it to the UK, and Australia, Japan, Brazil etc. It’s been so much fun and an amazing experience so far. I am so grateful.

Your favourite venue/place/festival you’ve played?

I really love warped tour. One of my favorite venues is actually not very massive or anything but it’s always a good time in The House Of Blues Orlando. Doesn’t hurt that it’s located inside of Disney World!

If you could collab with one person/band who would it be and why?

Probably Pink or Kelly Clarkson. They are role models of mine. I love their voices and I think they are good song writers as well.

When you boys are jamming does the songs come naturally or does it take a while to really get the sound your looking for?

haha BOYS! We tend to write very naturally. If we ever feel the sense of a song being forced we take a break or try something new. We never want to rush things. So sometimes it takes days and sometimes it takes 30 mins.

If you could plan your destiny where would you lead yourselves to?

As cheesy as it sounds.. The sky is the limit for We Are The In Crowd. We are constantly trying to find the next thing to accomplish or the next place to be. The five of us are very much involved in our art as a whole. We like to be a part of everything from song writing to marketing to budgets.

Any embarrassing things we should know?

We are stranger than many people know. When you put us in a room together be prepared to not really understand what is going on haha!

What plans have you got for 2013?

New tours, New music!

What do you want to say to all your fans out there?

Thank you so much for believing in us thus far. We owe it all to you. I can not wait to show you all the new music we have written. It might be sooner than later! Hope to see you all on tour this spring!

Mega Band : Mayday Parade

photo-credit-tom-falcone-extralarge_1329856768741

Hiya Mayday Parade..For all the Teen Spirit readers out there tell us a bit about yourselves.

What genre of music would you put yourselves under?

I always say emo or pop rock. Those are both safe bets. Some people cringe at the word emo but I embrace it. That’s what it is.

You’ve have numerous insane gigs but what has been your career highlight to date?

Any international touring we have done is always a huge deal. Especially the first time we went to Japan or Singapore. Also any sold out show is always awesome.

Many say touring is all about the 3 Bs.. beer, babes and bad places to sleep.. What has touring really been like for you guys?

Well I’d say that now we have limited that to just beer. When we first started touring in a van we always slept in bad places. Now that we are in a bus and we all have girlfriends that leaves only beer. But that’s still a big b.

You must have played 100s of venues worldwide but which was your favourite venue/place/festival you’ve played to date?

Warped tour is always incredible just because of the novelty of it. Starland ballroom in new jersey is great. Brixton academy in London is awesome. We played earls court once in London and that was pretty crazy.

If you could collab with one person/band who would it be and why?

I’d say maybe pierce the veil or four year strong. As a band we all love their music.

When you boys are jamming does the songs come naturally or does it take a while to really get the sound your looking for?

It kind of comes naturally. We just kind of let everyone do what they do. Jake will come up with a beat for the skeleton o a song and then we all just add our parts on top of that and filter down ideas to the best.

If you could plan your destiny where would you lead yourselves to?

Just to be able to tour and be successful in the future.

Any embarrassing things we should know?

I fell off stage once. I felt like I almost got a concussion.

Why you love Teen Spirit?

Anything that can broaden peoples mind and introduce them to music that they may love is awesome in my book!

What do you want to say to all your fans and supporters out there?

That everyone in the band loves you and appreciates all the support we get. Without you we wouldn’t be here!

Any last words/thanks:

Thank you for the interview. I hope to see you soon at a show! Take care
